Charles County Rotary Club Scholarships
The projects and programs that our club embarks upon help to improve life in Charles County and other local, national and international communities. Our oldest community service activity is our Scholarship Program which provides funds to our local high school students. This program has been continuous since it was first created in 1980 with the scholarship funds growing every year to reach the current $26,000. Schools included in our program are La Plata, McDonough, Lackey Thomas Stone, North Point and St. Charles High School. We also provide a trade scholarship to students attending any high school and/or the College of Southern Maryland. We are looking forward to meeting and providing opportunities to all of these students as well.
The application process opens up January 1st of each year and can be found through the Charles County Scholarship Fund and/or through the career counselor for each school. The due date for each application is March 1st. After careful review of each application, the Rotary Club's scholarship board will call those selected for a final interview, usually during the 1st or 2nd week in May. After the final interview, applicants are selected as recipients and their names are announced at the awards ceremony for each school. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our club by email.
Scholarship recipients are welcomed during one of the June Rotary Club meetings on Wednesday mornings for breakfast at The Greene Turtle.
